Bush-hammered
Bush-hammered stone has a characteristic pock-marked surface, which can vary in appearance depending on the texture, from extra rough to extra fine. From an aesthetic viewpoint, this finish is a favourite due to the chiaroscuro effects it produces and its rustic look which enhances the texture of the stone. The bush-hammering technique makes surfaces non-slip and more resistant. Indeed, it is often used outdoors, to cover the edges of swimming pools and diving boards.
